Picking the Perfect Pool Interior with Designer Beadcrete

You’ve decided to build a pool – congrats! Growing up, I was the kid who always put “pool” on my Santa list, so I get the excitement. But once you dive into the process, you’re met with a sea of choices. Thought picking the right shade of white for your house was tough? Buckle up for pool selections! Let’s make it easy.

The three big decisions for your pool will be your pool interior, coping tile, and waterline tile (we have just been through the same process with our pool at The MAYBE Forever- link to Maybe Forever build series). Today, we’re zooming in on that pool interior – essentially, what the walls and floor of your pool will be finished with. There are three main types: tiled, plastered, and aggregate. While I’ve had experience with both tiled and aggregate finishes, I have to say, I’ve become a major fan of aggregate – specifically, Designer Beadcrete. Here’s why.

So, What Actually Is Designer Beadcrete?

Think of Designer Beadcrete as a special kind of aggregate finish. It is made from tiny glass beads that catch the light, giving your pool a sparkling effect. It’s like adding shimmer to your pool walls and floor – simple, stylish, and eye-catching. The glass beads are solid instead of coated, which means the colour will last a lifetime in your pool interior.

Designer Beadcrete has two ranges available; the Island Range is more budget-friendly as it mixes glass beads and natural pebbles.  The Crystal Range is made of 100% glass beads, making it a smoother underfoot option.

Why Aggregate (and Why Designer Beadcrete)?

Aggregate pools feel luxuriously smooth underfoot – no sharp edges here! Designer Beadcrete’s aggregate finish is also budget-friendly, especially if you’re building a larger pool. If you’re working with a smaller plunge pool, tiles could be more practical since you may not need additional trades. But for anything larger? Designer Beadcrete all the way.

Choosing Your Pool Colour

The fun part: picking your pool colour! With tiles, you’re just picking the tile itself. With Designer Beadcrete, you’ve got a range of colors that’ll give you the exact look you’re dreaming of. Think of it as custom-designing your pool’s vibe.  And if you love the colour of our pool at The PAUSE or The MAYBE Forever, just ask Designer Beadcrete as together we have created these two custom colours that you can use.

Maintenance? Designer Beadcrete Wins Again

One of the best things about Designer Beadcrete is how low-maintenance it is. It’s resistant to chemicals and algae, so your pool stays cleaner and safer for longer.

So, if you want to spend more time swimming than scrubbing, it’s a no-brainer!

And the Best Part? Instant Gratification!

Here’s the kicker: if you want your pool fast, Designer Beadcrete is like the Christmas miracle you didn’t know you needed. From application to filling, the whole process can take as little as 24 hours! So, if you’re after a quick, high-quality finish, Designer Beadcrete is your best friend.

Tips for Making Your Pool Look Perfect

  • Pinterest is your friend. Start by pinning pools with colours you love.
  • Pick your coping tile first – the one that goes around the pool’s edge and meets the ground. It’s much easier to match the rest once you have this base.
  • Choose your waterline tile – the tile around the pool’s edge and sometimes on steps or seating ledges.
  • Take your samples to Designer Beadcrete. They’ll help you match your picks to the perfect finish.
  • Don’t overthink it! Go with what feels right.

With these steps, you’re on your way to building a beautiful pool that’s easy to maintain, budget-friendly, and looks stunning – with the added bonus of a super-speedy install. Enjoy the swim!
