Architraves

Definition:

The moulding around a window or doorway.

Simone’s words:

The board that covers the gaps between the windows or doors and the wall.  Just like skirting, I like an architrave that you can notice by going that little bit wider - so if in doubt, go bigger!

Cornice

Definition:

Ornamental moulding round the wall of a room just below the ceiling.

Simone’s words:

The trim around a room's ceiling connects to both the wall and ceiling. You may not use a cornice if you are looking for a more simplistic finish by choosing to square-set your ceilings.

I'm pretty sure we all understand what a door is: a structure that people use to open and close. You can keep your doors pretty simple or really make a statement with them.
