MARCH 2019 | OUR FAMILY OF SIX | 3 NIGHTS
From the moment we drove down the driveway and saw palm trees, the holiday vibes were on. Then we swung the doors open and we were greeted with amazing views of Pittwater – an instant wow factor.
Jetty House has three levels; the top floor is the entry with five bedrooms, including the master bedroom which boasts water views. The ground level has the kitchen, dining, living and sitting area, plus a laundry. It’s also where you will find the pool, and a private beach and boatshed. The lower ground level is a kids’ wonderland – a basement that’s been transformed into a games and media room.
Nat Spadavecchia from The Palm Co. did the simplistic and understated styling. She used natural tones throughout so as not to compete with that amazing view.
I loved the living area – the natural material in the ‘Worn’ brand occasional chairs and the wall hanging; it complimented the views of Pittwater amazingly. My favourite though was the boathouse down on the water. From the dark exterior to the timbers of the private jetty, it just oozed charm. Inside it housed all the water sport toys but also had a sense of calm. The hanging chair, the oversized beanbags, and I loved the use of the pendant lights.
Our boys couldn’t have asked for anything more. Mornings were spent on the water, swimming and jumping off the jetty, and playing with the stand-up paddleboard and kayak. Lunch down at the boatshed usually followed a game of cricket or footy on the beach, and once all their energy was used up, it was all about the games room, where every night was movie night. My boys had very luckily been to Disneyland only a few months before, and they all agreed that they loved this more!
For me, I loved the location on the waterfront, and that there was space for everyone to relax. My mornings were spent reading on the veranda off the master bedroom with a coffee – it was my birthday weekend, so I was completely off-duty. In the afternoons, Ben and I would head out on the kayaks and take it all in. We loved sitting down on the jetty with a sundowner or on the balcony outside the living area.
I loved, that despite the house being big, it had such a homely feel. I’m always going on about that holiday feeling, and this house oozed it. It was truly a holiday where we all switched off.
We stayed at Jetty House during the early days of social distancing, so for us, it was not about exploring the local neighbourhood. We did go and pick up a takeaway coffee from Clareville Kiosk which was up the top of the hill, and on Sunday we drove to Palm Beach (a 10-minute drive), grabbed a coffee from the Boathouse and had some good old-fashioned fun of running races on the beach.
Jetty House is the ideal family getaway; the perfect amount of entertainment for adults and kids. It’s great to go as a family, but it would also be perfect with another one or two families. And being so close to Sydney, it’s an ideal weekend or school holiday getaway.
